Dear Colleagues,

It is a great pleasure for me to announce the upcoming Medical Biodefense Conference 2011 and to cordially invite you to join the event. For the thirteenth time now, this meeting will be held under the auspices of the Bundeswehr Institute of Microbiology in the Bundeswehr Medical Academy in Munich. And, as in 2009, the German Society for Military Medicine and Pharmacy will stage an accompanying industrial exhibition. The premiere of our new conference concept has proved very successful, and the appreciation by the audience has encouraged us to push this traditional meeting up to a high-level scientific conference.

To attend the Medical Biodefense Conference has now become a must for biodefense researchers. The meeting is unique in focusing on the medical aspects of the subject. It will offer an excellent opportunity to meet civilian and military researchers from all over the world and to pick up information on the latest developments and products in the fields of diagnosis, therapy and prevention of diseases caused by dangerous pathogens as well as the latest protection technologies.

Besides agent-related sessions like "100 Years of Research on Francisella", the Medical Biodefense Conference 2011 will address most relevant cross topics such as synthetic biology,  mobile reconnaissance, new threats, or the pipeline of new drugs, new targets and new vaccines. There will also be special workshops featuring the latest developments in bioforensics or novel diagnostic applications.

Not to mention that Munich, the capital of the state of Bavaria, is an attractive place to meet! The Conference social event will let you taste the charm of Bavarian atmosphere.
Hence, there are definitely a number of good reasons not to miss the Medical Biodefense Conference 2011. We look forward to another outstanding scientific event in Munich and to seeing you there as a participant or exhibitor.

Sincerely,

Prof. Dr. L. Zöller, Colonel
